Sep. 16, 2008 Ed L’Heureux, Winter Springs poet, novelist, and lively yarn-spinner, will tell us the colorful stories of Henry DeLand and Henry Sanford and their effect on central Florida.

Randy Noles, who used to be on the staff of Outlook, the Oviedo newspaper, will blend music with history when he talks about his book Fiddler’s Curse: The Untold Story of Ervin T. Rouse, Chubby Wise, Johnny Cash and the Orange Blossom Special.
 
Nov. 18, 2008 Lillian Casselberry Selph will relate the behind-the scenes tale of the town of Casselberry, which was founded by her father in the middle years of the twentieth century.
 
Dec. 30, 2008 No formal meeting - Christmas/New Year's party.
This will be the night of our annual Christmas/New Year's party. Again this year it will be at the Oviedo Woman's Club on King Street. More details will be presented at the October and November meetings.
 
Jan. 20, 2009 “Naked on the Beach” --The saga of Jonathan Dickinson’s captivity at the hands of Ais Indians in south Florida in the 1700s will be told by the
Rev. Jim Lake, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo.

Feb. 17, 2009 Three of our members--Ophelia Moore, Ida Boston, and Eunice Mann--will present a spirited program on the African-American history of Oviedo.
 
Mar. 17, 2009 Our speaker will be from the Lou Frey Institute, and we hope that former Congressman Frey will be available to describe his project for restoring civics education to the public schools.
 
Apr. 21, 2009 Our guests will be selected local fifth-graders, who will receive the annual Oviedo Historical Society history awards.
 
May 16, 2009
(Saturday)
We will welcome summer at our annual May picnic and “show and tell.”
Place and time will be announced later.
